Did you notice that a Lieutenant-General is more senior than a Major-General?   Isn't that strange?   Everybody knows that a Major is much more senior than a Lieutenant.
			The explanation is, a Lieutenant is more senior than a Sergeant-Major, and a Major-General was once known as a Sergeant-Major-General.
